Biodegradation process of pig manure

At this time, Biodegradation process of pig manure is being developed. The pig manure created in pig farming operations are transported to the homogenisation unit, where a solid-liquid separation treatment produces a semi-solid waste that is 80% water. In the mass-rearing area, around 50,000 adult flies (per chamber) are reproducing and creating millions of fly eggs in methacrylate boxes specially designed to optimise the process. Later in the Biodegradation area, the eggs are put in containers together with the semi-solid pig manure. During their developmental phase (7 days) the larvae are nourished by the organic material in the pig manure, degrading up to 70% of the pig waste. The fly larvae or pupae are separated from the degraded pig manure. A completely stabilised, non-polluting substance is obtained as an end product with great potential for use in agriculture as a high-quality fertilizer.
